Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between ring and ringless?
A ring-type socket uses a sealing ring to secure the meter cover; a ringless socket uses a sealed cover without the ring. Utility requirements determine which is used — specify your utility if you're not sure.
What amperages and jaw counts are available?
Self-contained sockets are available in 100A, 125A, 200A, and 320A, in 4, 5, or 7 jaw configurations, single or three phase.
Do you make utility-approved meter panels?
Yes — multi-position meter panels approved for Con Edison, Central Hudson, Orange & Rockland, PSEG, and United Illuminating are built to each utility's specification. Spec drawings are in the Spec Sheets tab.
What is lever bypass?
Lever bypass lets the meter be removed or tested without interrupting power to the load. It's available as an option on self-contained sockets.
